C M Jamieson, designer of the one-off Jamieson Jupiter N1859M, was formerly of Beech and Culver, and similarities are apparent to the Bonanza in the tail and the Culver monoplanes in the wing. Both features are visible in this rear view from an advertisement.
Flying, Sept 1949: * p44/45 - "Have you seen?" photo feature included the Jamieson Jupiter N1859M, a V-tail 3-seater with folding wings and a 115 hp Lycoming. Designer C M Jamieson, formerly of Culver and Beech, claimed a speed range from under 30 mph to cruise of over 150 mph. Also introduced was the Strat, a 4-seat all metal low-wing monoplane with a 150 hp Franklin, designed by Mischa Kantor and regd NX74106. Did either of these designs develop beyond the prototype stage?
Flying. Sept 1949 p.44/45 - C M Jamieson designed the 3-seat Jupiter in 1949. Powered by a 115 hp Lycoming O-235-C1, it was 20 ft 10 in long and its 19 ft span wings folded for easy storage. Constructed mainly of aluminium alloy, it was said to have a cruising speed of 150 mph. The original V tail was replaced by a conventional unit for certification and the aircraft was later designated Jamieson J-4. Lack of capital prevented the Jupiter from entering production and only N1859M was built.
