Airworthy Boeing B-17F 42-29782/N17W, the only known surviving F model, is destined for display at the museum after restoration to its wartime configuration. Built in 1943, it served with the Eighth Air Force in England during the war, spent time as a monument at Stuttgart, Arkansas, and then had a 30-year career as a cropsprayer. It was bought for the Museum of Flight in 1985, as a gift from a Seattle-based businessman.

A frozen flypast, suspended in the airy Great Gallery, includes a Douglas DC-3, a Stearman C-3B, and a replica of the first Boeing of all, the B&W of 1916. On the floor is a Boeing 80A-1.
