  • Another visitor to the Auster Flying Club's meeting at Rearsby on June 21, 1947 was the Lockheed Model 12A G-AGTL, formerly NC33615 and 02947 of the US Navy. Owned by F. S. Cotton and named Caprice, 'TL was sold in France as F-BJJY in December 1960.

  • Miles M.14A Hawk Trainer Mk 3 G-AIOJ photographed at the Auster Flying Club meeting at Rearsby on June 21, 1947. Formerly T9888 with the RAF, this "Maggie" was sold in New Zealand as ZK-ATE in June 1949.

  • This Auster 5 was formerly NJ689 with the RAF and became G-ALXZ in March 1950. In May 1952 it was sold in Holland as PH-NER. Following a bad crash it was repaired at Portsmouth by Hants and Sussex Aviation Ltd and sold to a Dutch farmer in 1951. In January 1962 the Auster was sold in Germany as D-EGOF, but returned to the UK in January 1966. In May 1967 it emerged from Auster at Rearsby re-engined with a 150 h.p. Lycoming engine and sporting a dorsal fin. The aircraft is still airworthy.

    The forerunner of the Avro 19 was the Avro 652A Anson. G-AIWV was formerly NK668 with the RAF and was civilianised in August 1947. It is seen here at Portsmouth in 1950 before being converted back to military use for sale abroad, where it was last known to be dive-bombing on the Gaza Strip in 1951. The Anson was sold in Singapore as VR-SDM in August 1952. News of its use on the Strip was not known until long after the sale.

    D.H.89B Dragon Rapide G-AHGF photographed at Portsmouth in 1950. Formerly RAF Dominie NR839, 'GF was given its first C of A in November 1945. Following a rebuild by Hants and Sussex Aviation in 1950 the Rapide was flown to New Zealand in July 1954 as ZK-BFK, with a Lancaster fuel tank installed to give extra range.

    Beech D-17S Staggerwing G-AJJJ was formerly FZ432 with the RAF and was certified on the British register in April 1947. For a number of years was based at Elstree and owned by A. R. “Tiny" Pilgrim. It is seen here at Portsmouth in 1951. In December 1952 it was exported to Australia where it became VH-MJE.
