Hawker Sea Hawk FGA.6 WV908 of the Royal Navy Historic Flight made a 1hr test flight from Yeovilton on September 20, 1989 following a 3yr overhaul. Sadly, says the Navy, funding will not be available for the aircraft to appear on the display circuit next year.

Former RNethAF Fokker S-11 trainer PH-HTC is part of the newly-formed Dukes of Brabant Air Force, formed by a handful of Dutch pilots at Eindhoven as Holland s answer to the Confederate Air Force. Named after the medieval European duchy which encompassed Holland, the DBAF also has two Piper Super Cubs and a Dornier Do 27.

October 1, 1989 saw the rollout of Aeritalia’s newly-restored Ansaldo SVA 9, on the occasion of the Italian Air Force 51st Wing's golden jubilee airshow at Istrana. Exported to the USA in 1920, the SVA 9 spent many years with the Herbert Fyfield collection.

Nearing completion at Staverton is Cotswold Aircraft Restoration Group Miles Messenger G-AJOE, which underwent successful taxying trials in early October 1989. The group recently received a Scania Transport Trust Award for its restoration of 'JOE, which is scheduled to fly early in 1990.
