Spitfire 22 PK431 of 102 Flying Refresher School at RAF Oakington, Cambridge in 1951. Spitfire 22s were used by former wartime members of the RAFVR called up for three months’ training in 1951. They then progressed to Vampires.
A trio of Manchester University Air Squadron Chipmunk T.10s in formation over RAF Woodvale on June 9, 1968. The aircraft are WD322, WG422 and WK507. Each of them served with up to a dozen units. WD322 was struck off charge in June 1956, WG422 ended up as an instructional airframe in the Seventies and WK507 was sold in June 1975.
Meteor F.8 of 611 (West Lancashire) Squadron up from Hooton Park aerodrome in 1956. WH365 was delivered to 611 Sqn during the winter of 1951-52. Later it passed to 600 Sqn and ended its life as a U.16 target aircraft.
