Britten-Norman test pilot Colin Newnes landed on HMS Hermes on May 28, 1968, in Portland Bay. The aircraft stopped in 175ft, wind speed over the deck was 15kt, and took off in 400ft. The Islander is seen being repositioned for take-off.
