Tipsy Trainer G-AFWT c/n 13 was first registered on 1.8.39 to W R Trounson at White Waltham, receiving its CofA on 5.8.39. Only ten days later the owner flew it to Elmdon and night-stopped there. It survived the war years and by 1960 had been fitted with an enclosed hood by Doug Bianchi.

SR-9B G-AEVX c/n 5156 was the first of six SR-9 Reliants on the British register and visited Elmdon on 24.7.39. It was impressed as W7980 on 21.2.40.

Avro Avian IVM G-ACKE c/n 414 was re-engined with a 120 hp Gipsy II in 9.33. Although it retained the Hermes cowling the conversion is evident from the Gipsy exhaust. This aircraft was forced to night-stop at Elmdon by bad weather following a flight from Leicester on 3.8.39. It avoided impressment and after being dismantled at Leicester Airport in 12.39 it found its way to Percy Blamire's Queens Road Garage in Coventry for the duration. Having been restored to the register post-war it suffered a collision with a Tiger Moth in 1950, following which it donated its engine and other parts to G-ABEE which is now stored incomplete in Australia. Note that the original photo lacks part of the upper wing and rudder!

G-AEKC was a B.A.Swallow 2 c/n 443 with a 90 hp Cirrus Minor 2 4-cyl inverted in-line engine instead of the Pobjoy 7-cyl radial. It was delivered to York Aviation Services at Leeming in 1936 and at Linton-on-Ouse in 1939 although the Log shows the pilot as owner. It avoided impressment only to be cancelled in 1946.
