This atmospheric Interflug publicity shot of Il-18B DM-STB shows the company name positioned further back than in the later colour scheme. Also visible is the long strake fitted to the top of the forward fuselage which seems to be removed on the Il-18D model.

Another preserved Il-18D, DDR-STG at Erfurt is unusual as the nosewheel doors are open, a situation which normally occurs only during the lowering and retraction process.
