    Independent Air Travel's Viking G-AIJE which crashed at Southall on 2.9.58 while attempting a diversion to Blackbushe with engine trouble. This was an ex-King's Flight aircraft.

    The nose-section of Deutsche Flugdienst Viking 1B D-BELA following the forced landing and fire at Zele, Belgium on 17.10.58
    17.10.58 V.610 Viking 1B freighter D-BELA c/n 250 of Deutsche Flugdienst GmbH was en route London - Dusseldorf when an engine fire necessitated a forced-landing near Zele, Belgium. The aircraft broke up and burnt out but the three crew were only slightly injured.

    One of the few recognisable items recovered from the Atlantic after the loss of KLM Super Constellation PH-LKM on 14.8.58 was this nosewheel.
    14.8.58 L.1049H Super Constellation PH-LKM c/n 4841 "Hugo de Groot" of KLM flying from Amsterdam to New York took off from Shannon at 0305 hrs. Capt F A E Roelofs' last message passed at 0340 when climbing through 12,000 feet towards cruising altitude of 16,000 feet for next stop at Gander. Wreckage was found in the Atlantic 130 miles west of Ireland at 53° 15'N, 11° 50'W, drifting. All 99 on board were lost. Cause not determined, possibly overspeeding propeller.
