Douglas C-54 Skymaster G-AJPN of Skyways Ltd, seen at Luqa, Malta, in 1948, was formerly 42-72270, NL-310 and PH-TAL before being sold to Skyways in December 1947, and named Sky Champion. The aircraft was sold in France in June 1950 as F-BELR.
Boeing 377 Stratocruiser G-AKGJ arriving at Ringway, Manchester, from America via Prestwick. ‘GJ was delivered to BOAC in February 1950 and remained in service until January 1959, when it was sold to Transocean as N1040Q.
KLM DC-6A Freighter PH-DFB landing at Ringway, Manchester. This aircraft was delivered to KLM in November 1953 and named General C. J. Snijders. In January 1961 it was sold back to the Douglas Aircraft Company.
H.P.70 Halton ZS-BTA at Luqa, Malta, in 1948. Originally PP336 with the RAF, this Halton first saw civil use with British American Air Services Ltd as G-AGZP until sold to Alpha Airways (Pty) Ltd in April 1947, taking up the registration ZS-BTA. In August 1949 the Halton was restored to the British register, serving with the Lancashire Aircraft Corporation Ltd. It was eventually scrapped at Bovingdon in 1953.
Avro 688 Tudor 4 G-AHNN Star Leopard of British South American Airways is seen at Luqa, Malta, in 1948. 'NN later passed to the Ministry of Civil Aviation in November 1951 and was relegated to spares at Ringway in 1953 before being scrapped at Southend.
