MICHAEL O'LEARY’S photograph depicts a Grumman XF8F-1 Bearcat. This aircraft was in storage at the National Air and Space Museum for many years, and was traded to Darryl Greenamyer in exchange for his record-breaking Bearcat racer. The unrestored Bearcat was sold to George Enhorning who spent several years restoring the aircraft to mint condition. Enhorning eventually sold the aircraft to Texas collector Howard Pardue for his growing stable of WWII/USN/USMC aircraft. Pardue repainted the Bearcat and installed a smoke system for use with his aerobatic routine.
