A GERMAN DIVE BOMBER: The new Junkers Ju.87 two-seater dive bomber fitted with a 680 h.p. Jumo 210 inverted vee-twelve petrol engine. A specially strong air brake is fitted to restrict the speed developed during a diving attack which may be made with 500 or 1,000 lb. of bombs.
The Ju 87 V3 featured a lowered engine thrust line, an enlarged rudder, small endplates on the tailplane and a longer-stroke tailwheel leg.
The Ju 87 V1 in the form in which it was originally flown with twin vertical tail surfaces. This arrangement was found to be susceptible to flutter.
