Spitfire factory workers with a special wing-skin drilling jig. The preformed wing leading-edge skin was laid in it, and the upper part clamped down over it to provide a drilling guide for the rivet holes.
This elaborate jig is for drilling the metal skin of the leading edge of the wing. The curved sheet, formed to shape on the stretch-press, is placed in the jig and the upper part hinged down. The holes in it guide the drills.Самолёты на фотографии: Supermarine Spitfire - Великобритания - 1936
