Beaching seaplanes used to be a long, tedious job. Not any more. Now an old car with its back cut off and a hydraulic fork lift simply picks up the floatplane at the bottom of the ramp and carries it ashore.

A DHC-6 Twin Otter takes off from the narrow inlet dividing Sonora Island from the mainland. As with the float-equipped Beavers, the Twin Otter is fitted with small fins above and below the tailplane for directional stability.
