  • C-130H Hercules 16801 is one of the two aircraft converted by OGMA to C-130H-30 standard. This extends the length by 4.57m and the troop and cargo carrying capability is increased by 40%.

  • SAR cover is provided by ten Pumas of which four are based in the Azores. The S-1 version of the SA.330 is peculiar to the FAP and features a number of modifications including new powerplants.

  • An Esq 301 Alpha Jet in the new wrap around camouflage scheme, about to fly a mission. Two aircraft are still carrying the earlier ex-Luftwaffe camouflage but the FAP is in the process of standardising on the later, darker scheme seen here.

  • Seen on a ramp at BA1 Sintra, this Do 27 (3480) is one of the two still serving with the FAP. They are used for glider-towing by Esq 802 and have been restored to flying condition after having been withdrawn from use some years ago and assigned to the FAP Museum. Both carry large fuselage badges from units that operated in the African colonies.

  • EC-212 Galaktron 16502 of Esq 401 is readily identified by its nose and fin-top radomes and underfuselage antennae. The EC-212 not fitted with EW equipment, 16501, has a standard nose fairing and is assigned to Esq 502 for training duties.

  • Operated by Esq 101 at BA11 Beja, the ТВ.30 Epsilon is used for primary flying training. The squadron also provides elementary flying training for Portuguese Navy Lynx pilots. Of the original 18 aircraft, 16 are still in service.
