Intended as a naval bomber and torpedo aircraft, the Blackburn Shark IIA had a short-lived career at CAN Bom Sucesso, being prematurely withdrawn due to a faulty wing design. The white disc background for the underwing Portuguese national insignia, the Cruz de Cristo (Cross of Christ) was not commonplace on aircraft of the Aviacao Naval.
