It is a PZL Mielec M-15 Belphegor, a three-seat agricultural aircraft powered by a 3,306lb-thrust Ivchenko AI-25 turbofan. A joint Polish-Soviet design team was responsible and the USSR signed an agreement in December 1971 for large-scale production in Poland - there was an indicated requirement for 3,000. Large hoppers between the wings could hold 2,900lit (638gal) of liquid or 2,200kg (4,850lb) of dry chemicals for spraying, and firefighting and cargo versions were expected, but production stopped in 1981 after 120 were built as the type did not meet economic parameters.
