R.A. White submits a cutting from the September 1933 Popular Flying on H. Miller’s Bristol M.1C Monoplane VH-UQI, which, after fitting a D.H. Gipsy I engine, he entered in the Australian Air Derby for two years, coming first each time but being disqualified on the second for “exceeding the speed estimate”. Mr White wonders what the qualifying speed would have been, and what became of VH-UQI. I can answer the last question - it is preserved at the Captain Harry Butler Memorial at Minlaton, South Australia, in a purpose-built structure opened in 1958 and has been restored with a le Rhone radial engine to its original configuration.
