John Fricker's flight was made in XD826, A Valiant B(K) Mk 1 of No 7 Sqn, seen here at Wethersfield on June 15, 1957. No 7 Sqn operated the Valiant from December 1955 until September 1962.
Apart from the intake for the artificial feel system near the base of the fin and the nose refuelling position, the Valiant remained a clean aircraft when it entered RAF service, this unpainted example photographed on June 15,1957, bears the badge of No 7 Sqn.

WZ365 displays the graceful shape of the Valiant wing section. The type was popular with crew and earned a substantial amount of respect from Fighter Command as an interception target.

Still in excellent condition, the nose section of XD875, the last Valiant built, is permanently displayed at Bruntingthorpe - most of the original instruments are still intact.
