Boeing B-17E 41-2595 was converted to an XC-108 executive transport in 1944, and was rediscovered in pieces in Maine in the early 1980s. It is now being restored to fly as a B-17E in Illinois.

Focke-Wulf Fw 189 Uhu Werknr 2100, seen here at Jim Pearce's base in summer 2000, is now being rebuilt by Flug Werk in Germany.

Curtiss P-40K 42-10083, at warbird recovery specialist Jim Pearce's base in Sussex on October 2, 1996, soon after its arrival from Russia. It is now being rebuilt to fly in Georgia, USA.

Probably the most complex rebuild of a warbird to flying condition being carried out in Europe is that of The Fighter Collection's Bristol Beaufighter Mk 21 A8-324, which is destined to become the world's first example to return to the air.

Hawker Sea Fury FB.11 VX653/G-BUCM was on display in the RAF Museum, Hendon, for many years, and is now being restored to fly by The Fighter Collection at Duxford.

Fairey Firefly AS.5 WB271 is now nearing the end of its rebuild with the Royal Navy Historic Flight at Yeovilton, and will be back on the airshow circuit during 2002.

The Curtiss-Wright Historical Association's P-40B, 41-13297, which was at Wheeler Field, Hawaii, during the Pearl Harbor attack, is being restored by retired Curtiss employees under the "Project Tomahawk" banner at Torrance, California.
