A controlling interest in PrivaJet of Malta has been acquired by Aeronexus International, also based in Malta. PrivaJet will become part of the Aeronexus group, which has its headquarters in South Africa. The acquisition will give the company a European Air Operator Certificate (AOR). Since 2012, Aeronexus has operated its sole aircraft, Boeing 767-35D(ER) ZS-NEX (c/n 24865), which is configured with 96 first class, lie-flat seats, from London Stansted Airport in Essex. It has been used to transport heads of state, sports teams, members of the film and music industries, company officials and private individuals. Recent charters have included carrying individuals for a US-based luxury tour operator and a six-week programme flying a US-based sports team to Australia and China. The aircraft is expected to transition to PrivaJet's AOC and join the Maltese civil aviation register in the middle of this year. PrivaJet already operates a Bombardier Global 6000 (9H-ONE, c/n 9697), built in 2015, which has a cabin configured with seating for 15.
