Финальный вариант был сертифицирован в 1992 году как BK117C (германской постройки) с новым приборным оборудованием и силовой установкой из двух ТВаД Turbomeca Arriel 1E мощностью по 708 л. с. Он также строился в двух подвариантах: основном - BK117C-1 и улучшенном - BK117C-2, который выполнил первый полет в июне 1999 года. На нем установили авионику и рулевой винт от EC135, увеличили размеры кабины (BK117C-2 известен также как EC145). Три BK117 под обозначением IPTN NBK117 по лицензии собрали в Индонезии. Несколько вертолетов BK117, которые в основе своей являются гражданским вариантом, используются вооруженными силами на правах аренды в качестве связных и для VIP-перевозок.
Оснащенный ТВаД Arriel 1E2 вертолет EC145 рассчитан на перевозку 11 пассажиров при экипаже из одного человека. Вертолет предназначен для VIP-перевозок, выполнения поисково-спасательных работ и пр.
"Eurocopter" развил тему BK117M в военном EC645, спроектированном на базе EC145. Широкого распространения этот вариант, как и его предшественники, не получил, но модификация UH-72A Lakota стала основным легким вертолетом Армии США. UH-72A выпускается "EADS America", машина выиграла конкурс на легкий многоцелевой вертолет по программе LUH для Армии США, не предназначенный для боевого применения. В мае 2010 года количество закупаемых Армией США вертолетов UH-72A увеличили до 345 единиц. Поставки были начаты в 2006 году, в марте 2010 года Армия США получила сотую машину, а школа летчиков-испытателей авиации ВМС США начала получать заказанные пять H-72A.

EADS North America announced on October 7, 2008 that it had delivered the first Final Assembly Line (FAL) example of the Eurocopter UH-72A Lakota to the US Army from its production facility located at the Golden Triangle Airport Industrial Complex in Columbus, Mississippi. Production of the helicopter in the 220,000sq ft (67,056m2) purpose-built factory is being phased in during three stages, known as Light Assembly Line (LAL), FAL and Production Line (PL), during which progressively more components and processes are undertaken at Columbus. The first FAL-built Lakota (N567AE, c/n 9179, to become 07-02044) underwent seven of the 14 stages required to build, assembly and deliver it at Columbus. PL status will be achieved when all 14 are completed at the factory.
