Among the many and varied types on show at the International Air Fair, Biggin Hill, on May 20-21, 1978, undoubtedly the most unusual item was the Douglas A-26 Invader, which is to be based at Duxford.
Euroworld's impressive Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress stole the show as usual.
The Bassingbourn Anglo-American Air Festival, held on the weekend of May 27/28, 1978б was blessed with glorious weather, large crowds and numerous aeroplanes. Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer S.2 XT273 came from 237 OCU at RAF Honington, and sported a pair of eyes on its bomb door.
Among the many and varied types on show at the International Air Fair, Biggin Hill, on May 20-21, 1978, was the Spanish-built Junkers Ju 52/3m for the RAF Museum at Cosford flew in en route after a rendezvous with a Hurricane and Spitfire over the Channel. “German” insignia were hastily applied for the occasion.

A Sud Alouette III of the Royal Danish Naval Air Squadron at Vaerlose gave a lively performance and “rescued” a crew member who contrived to remain rigidly at attention as he was winched aboard.
