Morton Air Services’ de Havilland Heron G-AOXL photographed at Croydon Airport at 1753hr BST on September 30, 1959. At 1835hr G-AOXL left the apron and at 1839hr it was airborne, bound for Rotterdam. This was the last service to operate from Croydon, and the airport was officially closed at 2230hr. On the left is the nose of Morton's Dove G-ANAN which had operated the last service to arrive at the airport. It landed at 1720hr, having flown from a Newmarket race meeting.
On November 3, 1996, a Heron returned to Croydon for static display. G-ANOU has been painted to represent G-AOXL and is pole-mounted outside the airport terminal.
