    The first all-metal transport aeroplane to go into production was the four-passenger Junkers-F 13 which first flew on June 25, 1919. More than 320 were built and they saw wide-scale service in Europe, were used by pioneer airlines in South America, Eurasia and China, and as JL 6s on United States Post Office mail services. ABA - Swedish Air Lines’ second F 13 (c/n 715), originally S-AAAC, is seen here outside the Stockholm Technical Museum in July 1958. When delivered it almost certainly had the original-type tail surfaces.

    Mount McKinley (20,321ft), the highest mountain in North America, with a formidable glacier in the foreground. Mount McKinley was photographed from 23,000ft towards the end of a 16hr flight from Paris to Anchorage in Air France’s Lockheed L-1649A F-BHBR on January 26, 1958, on the airline’s first proving flight for the Paris-Anchorage-Tokyo polar route.
