The two-seater with land undercarriage is the Blackburn Roc turret fighter as used by the Fleet Air Arm.
Both two-seater fighters built by Boulton Paul and equipped with multi-gun power-operated turrets made by the same company, the Defiant and the Blackburn-designed Roc (shown) are in production respectively for Home Defence and Fleet Air Arm use. The Defiant had a Rolls-Royce Merlin and the Roc a Bristol Perseus.

In 1908 Geoffrey de Havilland designed his first aeroplane. He designed the horizontally opposed water-cooled engine, the shaft transmission and the adjustable-pitch propellers. He built the aircraft himself and flew it. To-day de Havilland aircraft, powered by de Havilland Gipsy engines and driven by de Havilland controllable-pitch airscrews, are in service throughout the world.
