The latest Australian Harvard to take to the air is John Raynor’s Melbourne-based IIB VH-TXN/FE966/16077, seen here at RAAF Laverton’s open day on February 18, 1996. The trainer has mixed Canadian and Swedish heritage, having been operated by both countries’ air forces.

An exciting and significant aircraft was seen at Historic Flying’s workshops at Audley End, Essex, in March: ex-French Seafire LF.IIIC PP972, which came to the UK from Brittany under Doug Arnold’s Warbirds of Great Britain banner in the Eighties and has since been at various locations under rebuild to fly.

After seven years' restoration work on a “when time permits" basis at Old Warden, the Shuttleworth Collection’s Southern Martlet G-AAYX has just been fully assembled for the first time. With the airshow season about to begin, however, the project will again be suspended until next winter. Owned at one time by holiday-camp tycoon Billy Butlin, the aircraft last flew in 1949.
