Aladdin’s Cave: an exclusive peep into Old Rhinebeck’s storage area, courtesy of Gene DeMarco, reveals a reproduction Fokker E III fuselage, the fuselage of one of the museum’s five New Standard D-25s, a repro Ryan NYP fuselage, and an original Kreider-Reisner KR-31 with its Curtiss OX-5 engine.

Owned and flown by Old Rhinebeck pilot Brian Coughlin, who also built it, this replica of a 1918 Fokker D VIII has a raucous 160 h.p. nine-cylinder Gnome Type N rotary engine.

With the 200 h.p. Mercedes engine opened up, pilot Ken Cassens switches on the smoke to provide a graphic demonstration of the Fokker D VII’s agility. This was one of the best fighters to be produced in the First World War.
