Cessna 195 F-AZRS, the only example of the type in France, has been restored to flying condition by retired Air France captain Rene Calmet. Based at the small airfield of Le Plessis - Belleville, a few miles northeast of Paris, it is finished in natural metal with markings inspired by those of a 1950s US Mail carrier. Built in 1952 as a Cessna 195B, F-AZRS is powered by a 300 h .p. Jacobs R-755 seven-cylinder radial engine.

AVRO XIX G-AHKX, the former Smiths Industries demonstrator which is nearing the end of a 15-year restoration to airworthiness by volunteer retired workers at Avro International Aerospace (BAe Woodford), has scooped the £1,000 Aeroplane Monthly Preservation Project of the Year Award. Narrowly beating the Brooklands Museum's Vickers Wellington and Peter McMillan's Vickers Vimy replica, the Avro XIX was voted into first place by Aeroplane readers in a final tussle before the deadline of December 31 last year.

In between securing work from the DDA, visible progress has been made on AA’s Historic Flight. Percival Prentice VR259/G-APJB, shown, now has its fuselage and cockpit completed and mated to the wings, although some systems are still to be fitted. VR259 flew with No 2 ASS at Halfpenny Green, and it is in these unit’s markings that the Prentice will fly. Meanwhile, another AA historic aircraft, de Havilland Dragon Rapide G-AIDL, will be making passenger flights from locations throughout England and Wales during the forthcoming season.
