    The MiG-15UTl advanced trainer has an even longer EAF service history than the MiG-17F, the first examples of this type having reached Egypt in 1955. This will he the first aircraft to be replaced by the Alpha Jet MS1 and its phase-out is expected to commence next year, the MiG-17F subsequently being replaced by the dedicated attack MS2 version of the Alpha Jet.

    Another of Australia’s airworthy Polish-built MiG-15s: this one is VH-XIG / 612782, owned by John Waymouth of Victoria River Downs, Northern Territory. The ban on operating the type, following the crash of VH-LSN last March, was lifted six months afterwards pending a number of conditions.

Further south, at Chino, California, Bruce Guessling’s Unlimited Aviation has sold four of the five MiGs it acquired from China.
