York / Type 685
- грузовой, строился в 1944 - 1945 гг.;
- пассажирский на 24 - 30 мест, изготовлялся только в 1944 г.;

LV-XGD [3], LV-XGO [3], G-AMGM [3], LV-AFY [3] We are reminded by a photograph from Mr.G.Terry that before the LV-P.. series came into use there were other instances of delivery marks being used. His photo shows Avro York LV-XGO c/n 1355 before delivery to Flota Aerea Mercante Argentina in 1946. On arrival it became LV-AFY and was later to be Surrey Flying Services G-AMGM. Does any reader know whether the registration LV-XGD was one of a temporary series or was the York simply ordered by the Argentine Government, the proper users of this block, and handed over to the airline after delivery? The airline titles are, incidentally, clearly visible on the original print.

This pilot's place, just about merits the name “flight deck": Wg Cdr D. R. Donaldson sits at the controls of Endeavour, HRH the Duke of Gloucester's Avro York, early in 1945. Pilot and copilot each had a set of flight instruments, but shared the engine instruments and controls, which can be seen in rows of four between them and on the roof console. The wireless operator's panel is below and behind the pilot on the left; the navigator's panel is at top right.
