Antonov An-2 N61SL, which was used on the 1998 Explorers Club Transpolar Flight expedition from Anchorage, Alaska, to Spitsbergen in Norway via the North Pole, has been donated to the Museum of Flight (MoF) at Seattle by the expedition leader Shane Lundgren and Air Berlin. It was delivered to the Pearson Air Park in Vancouver, where it will be on display for the next two years before moving back to Seattle when the MoF’s new Air Transportation building is completed in December 2003.

ROB DAVIES, who operates Commonwealth Mustang G-HAEC and North American T-6 G-TVIJ from his strip at Woodchurch in Kent, flew his latest acquisition, Yakovlev Yak-11 F-AZPA, from its previous base at Beauvais to North Weald on October 30, 1999. Formerly owned by French collector Patrick Debonne, the Yak will stay at North Weald while it is transferred on to the British register, before it joins the rest of the fleet in Kent.

AT DOWTY Aerospace in Wolverhampton, the Boulton Paul Aircraft Heritage Project is making a full-scale replica of the Boulton & Paul P6, originally built in 1918 as an experimental aircraft for testing aerofoil sections. It could be fitted with alternative sets of mainplanes for these purposes, and was powered by a 90 h.p. RAF 1a air cooled V8 engine. It incorporated some Sopwith Camel parts in its fuselage.
